Al Gore is right!
“Al Gore said the other week that climate change is “a principle in physics. It’s like gravity. It exists.” Sarah Palin agreed that “climate change is like gravity,” but added a better conclusion: Each is “a naturally occurring phenomenon that existed long before, and will exist long after, any governmental attempts to affect it.”" “Copenhagen’s Dodged Bullet“
Comments to article on Philippine volcano erupting
” Who is going to pay for all the greenhouse gases this volcano is pouring into the atmosphere? Surely the educated idiots from Copenhagen can talk this thing out of spewing out so much carbon and sulphur.
Say, how much CO2 is that baby pumping out?
Maybe we should raise taxes on the Philippines!
Don’t worry folks: Al Gore will legislate the closure of this source of global warming.
I sure hope that mountain had permission to exhale CO2 or bought carbon credits from Algore.
Quote of the day
“The great truth-monger Al Gore claimed yesterday that 40% of the Artic Ice Cap has already disappered, and that the other 60% will be gone in 5, 10, or 15 years. If almost half of the Artic ice has already melted, then why aren’t London, New York, Miami, Venice, Houston, Singapore, etc., under water?” — Christopher Monckton

"Copenhagen targets not tough enough, says Al Gore"
“Greenpeace, WWF, and Al Gore have launched a new climate campaign designed to “educate the ignorant public of the necessity to drastically reduce carbon dioxide levels.” “It is absolutely critical for life on the planet that we reduce CO2 to 150 parts per million. Earth hangs in the balance”, said Mr. Gore. “The Copenhagen target of 450 is three times too high,” he said. Their website 150.edu can be accessed for a nominal fee ($1000), all proceeds going to savetheplanet.edu, an Al Gore subsidiary.
When denialists pointed out that 150 ppm is below the threshold required by vegetation to survive and would destroy all plant life, and hence all life, on Earth, Mr. Gore scoffed, “Don’t believe those lying denialists, they’re all funded by Big Oil.”" [The preceding two paragraphs are satire. The following is not.]
“Even if a deal is reached at the UN climate change talks in Copenhagen next week it will only be the first step towards the far more radical cuts that are needed in global carbon emissions, Al Gore, the former US Vice-President, told The Times last night.
Mr Gore said that to avoid the worst ravages of climate change world leaders would have to come together again to set more drastic reductions than those now planned.
“Even a final treaty will have to set the stage for other tougher reductions at a later date,” he said. “We have already overshot the safe levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.”” “Copenhagen targets not tough enough, says Al Gore“
The wily channel
“The television news-watching world in America has not learned much about the so-called Climategate scandal because it has not really been mentioned on the air except for a notorious cable news channel named for a three-lettered, wily, wild animal that often seems to revel in debunking liberal shibbeloths.
Network news programs have been far more concerned with the obviously more important White House party-crasher story involving a couple of formally-dressed phonies.” “Take back Al Gore’s Oscar, 2 Academy members demand in light of Climategate“
Gore cashes in — again — at your expense
“A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000.
The award this week to California startup Fisker Automotive Inc. follows a $465 million government loan to Tesla Motors Inc., purveyors of a $109,000 British-built electric Roadster. Tesla, like Fisker, is a California startup focusing on high-end hybrids, with a number of celebrity endorsements that is backed by investors that have contributed to Democratic campaigns.
The awards to Fisker and Tesla have prompted concern from companies that have had their bids for loans rejected, and criticism from groups that question why vehicles aimed at the wealthiest customers are getting loans subsidized by taxpayers.
“This is not for average Americans,” said Leslie Paige, a spokeswoman for Citizens Against Government Waste, an anti-tax group in Washington. “This is for people to put something in their driveway that is a conversation piece. It’s status symbol thing.” …
Fisker’s top investors include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a veteran Silicon Valley venture-capital firm of which Gore is a partner. Employees of KPCB have donated more than $2.2 million to political campaigns, mostly for Democrats, including President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks campaign contributions. …
Asked whether Mr. Gore had any influence on Fisker’s application, the DOE’s Rogers said, “None at all.”" “Gore-Backed Car Firm Gets Large U.S. Loan“
Makes Bernie Madoff look like a pickpocket
“At the cap-and-trade hearings, it was revealed that not everyone will suffer from this growth-killing energy tax. A congresswoman wanted to know why sea levels aren’t rising but Gore’s bank account is.
When Gore left office in January 2001, he was said to have a net worth in the neighborhood of $2 million. A mere eight years later, estimates are that he is now worth about $100 million. It seems it’s easy being green, at least for some. …
Last Friday, Gore was the star witness at the hearings on cap-and- trade legislation before the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Blackburn asked Gore about Kleiner-Perkins, noting that at last count they “have invested about a billion dollars invested in 40 companies that are going to benefit from cap-and-trade legislation that we are discussing here today.” …
[Gore] also is co-founder of Generation Investment Management, which sells carbon offsets that allow rich polluters to continue with a clear conscience. It’s a scheme that will make traders of this new commodity rich and Bernie Madoff look like a pickpocket. The other founder is former Goldman Sachs partner David Blood.
As Stephen Milloy, author of “Green Hell,” points out, Goldman Sachs is lobbying for climate change legislation and is part owner of the Chicago Climate Exchange, where carbon credits from cap and trade would be traded. …
Gore has not taken a vow of poverty even as he advocates legislation that will push millions into it. He has said greed and corporate profits are behind the studies disproving his alarmism. Maybe it’s his desire for profits that’s behind his manipulation of the truth.” “Cap-And-Trade: Al Gore’s Cash Cow“

Another lunatic unhinged
Criticizing Gore the moral equivalent of killing 1000 people:
“Implying an equivalence between Gore, who is constantly treading a fine line between effective politics and truthful description of risks, and George Will, who is wrong from beginning to end in conception, detail and emphasis is unacceptable because it perpetuates this dangerous skew.
As for the scope of the ethical risk, let us consider the possibility that the behavior of the Times and the Post this year increases the chance of an extreme event with a premature mortality of a billion people by a mere part per million, a per cent of a per cent of a per cent. The expected mortality from this is a thousand people. Is that morally equivalent to actually killing a thousand people? It’s not all that obvious to me that it isn’t.” “A Conversation with a Climate Scientist“
"Preposterous, absurd, criminal, immoral"
“When The New York Times publishes a story, as it did on February 19, regarding the next step in the Obama administration’s intention to destroy the U.S. economy, it’s a very good idea to pay attention.
“E.P.A. Expected to Regulate Carbon Dioxide” was the headline of John M. Broder’s article. …
The claim that rising levels of carbon dioxide are responsible for a global warming that is not happening is entirely without scientific merit and, if for no other reason, should not be the basis for implementing EPA regulation of so-called “greenhouse gas” emissions under the Clean Air Act. …
Despite this, the EPA is tasked to impose regulations on CO2 emissions that would wreck the economy by requiring a “cap-and-trade” of “carbon credits” that would impact every single business and industrial activity. The European Union tried this and it has proved a massive failure and a huge drag on its economy.
Carbon dioxide is not a “pollutant” as the Supreme Court has ruled. How can the Earth’s second most vital gas, other than oxygen, be a pollutant? Not one single piece of vegetation on Earth could exist without CO2. Without vegetation, no animal life including our own could exist on Earth.
The notion that the EPA would regulate it is preposterous. It is absurd. It is criminal. It is immoral. It has no basis whatever in the actual science of the world’s climate. It is based on a massive, global hoax masterminded by the United Nations and carried out by charlatans such as Al Gore and NASA’s James Hansen.
It is, however, the vehicle for the political control of the world’s economy that would fulfill the United Nation’s global government schemes and, if enacted here in America, would mark the destruction of an economy that is the engine of the world’s economy, despite its current difficulties.” “Stop the CO2 madness!“

Laugh or cry?
“Former Vice President and Nobel laureate Al Gore will testify to Congress next week on global warming, Senator John F. Kerry announced this morning.
Gore, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his advocacy on the issue and won an Oscar for his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth,” will testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning on climate change, the latest science, and the importance of US leadership.
“My friend and former Senate colleague Al Gore is one of this nation’s leading authorities on the subject of climate change, and we are honored that he has agreed to appear before the Committee,” Kerry said in a statement.” “Gore to talk to Congress on climate change“
For once Al Gore is right
Wonder how Gore got his prize
“The Nobel Prize Committee is facing criminal investigation of bribery and corruption after allegedly taking huge payments from a pharmaceutical company that directly benefits from the work of this year’s Nobel Prize winner in medicine.
The astonishing scandal, being reported in the European trade press and conspicuously absent from Sweden’s major daily newspapers, surfaced just days before the internationally renowned awards were presented in Stockholm on Wednesday.
According to Swedish trade journal Dagens Medicin, two Nobel-affiliated corporations — Nobel Media and Nobel Webb — are accused of taking “many millions” of dollars from Swedish-American pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca.” “Swedish Officials Investigating Nobel Prize Board“
Today’s laugh
Cool it
“The Gore-Obama meeting followed an announcement by researchers at Florida State University that the 2007 and 2008 hurricane seasons had the least tropical activity in the Northern Hemisphere in 30 years. Then there was a report in November on cyclone activity showing storm durations and wind speeds in 2007 and 2008 were among the lowest since reliable global satellite data became available three decades ago.
As for those coastlines, studies by the International Commission on Sea Level Changes and others show ocean levels in recent decades have actually fallen. The Indian Ocean, for example, was higher between 1900 and 1970 than it has been since.
Due to a decline in solar activity and other factors, the Earth is cooling, and has been since 1998. A peer-reviewed study published in April by Nature predicted the world will continue cooling at least through 2015. In the U.S., the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month of October.
Meteorologist and Weather Channel founder John Coleman notes that a significant natural warming trend peaked in 1998 with lots of sunspots and solar flares. Now the sun has gone quiet with fewer sunspots, and global temperatures have gone into decline. “Earth,” he says, “has cooled for almost 10 straight years.”
So why in an economy reeling from a market collapse are we still considering emission controls certain to kill both jobs and economic growth? The EPA said the cap-and-trade lunacy of the recently stalled Lieberman-Warner bill would have caused a loss of $3 trillion in GDP in a $14 trillion economy.
An analysis by the National Association of Manufacturers and the American Council for Capital Formation concluded that passage of Lieberman-Warner would by 2030 cost the average American household $6,752 a year, with job losses as much as four million.
The Earth is cooling. So is the economy. It’s time to step on the gas, not regulate it.” “Economic chill“
Gore infuses Obama with the spirit of the Lord Gaia — Praise the Lord!
“President-elect Barack Obama said Tuesday his administration would brook no further delay in tackling climate change after discussing global warming with former vice president Al Gore.
Sitting between Gore and his vice president-elect Joseph Biden following the hour-long meeting, Obama told reporters: “All three of us are in agreement that the time for delay is over. The time for denial is over.
“We all believe what the scientists have been telling us for years now, that this is a matter of urgency and national security, and it has to be dealt with in a serious way. That is what I intend my administration to do,” he said.” “Obama vows to end global warming ‘denial’ after Gore talks“
Global coal use increasing faster than oil, gas
“While [I.E.A. executive director Nobuo] Tanaka, Gore, and others may agree on the need to phase out coal, the world is heading the other direction. On November 12, the I.E.A. released its World Energy Outlook, and the second page of the agency’s briefing slides show that coal is gaining – not losing – market share. Between 2000 and 2007, global coal use increased by 4.8 percent. That’s three times the growth rate seen in oil consumption (which grew by 1.6 percent) and nearly twice the rate in natural gas use (which climbed by 2.6 percent.) Further, the I.E.A. expects that through 2030, about 60 percent of incremental energy demand in non-O.E.C.D. countries will be met with coal. (In the O.E.C.D., coal will likely provide less than 10 percent of incremental new demand over that same time period.)” “Hard Facts and Innumeracy: Coal Use Grows Despite Global Warming Warnings“

"A crime against humanity"
“Many, if not all, warm-mongers consider the Industrial Revolution a crime against humanity, or at least against the Earth goddess, Gaia. Global warming alarmist James Hansen, head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Al Gore’s favorite scientist, has said in the past that heads of major fossil-fuel companies who spread disinformation about global warming should be “tried for high crimes against humanity and nature.”
Certainly it is the green theme first advanced by Gore in his book “Earth In The Balance” that the internal combustion engine was the greatest threat to mankind in its history. He and Bill Clinton have both said that global warming is ultimately a greater threat than terrorism. …
Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, and next head of the European Union starting in January, recognizes such authoritarianism and totalitarianism when he sees it. He sees global warming hype not as an attempt to save the planet but as a campaign to collectivize it, to put the nations of the world and their economies under the thumbs of global planners.
Writing in the Financial Times, he warned: “As someone who lived under communism for most of his life, I feel obliged to say that I see the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity now in ambitious environmentalism, not communism.”" “Criminalizing carbon“
Klaus next EU President
“[Vaclav Klaus] has blamed what he calls the misguided fight against global warming for contributing to the international financial crisis, branded Al Gore an “apostle of arrogance” for his role in that fight, and accused the European Union of acting like a Communist state.
Now the Czech Republic is about to assume the rotating presidency of the European Union and there is palpable fear that Klaus will embarrass the world’s biggest trading bloc and complicate its efforts to address the economic crisis and expand its powers.” “A fiery Czech is poised to be the face of Europe“
Dingell defenestrated
“Dingell’s more extreme heresy, however, comes in his approach to global warming. In recent years, most congressional Democrats have been on record favoring taking regulatory steps to limit greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Emboldened by the awarding of a Nobel Prize to Al Gore and the election of Barack Obama, they are now firmly dedicated to the idea that immediate action must be taken by Washington to counter the dread effects of climate change. Waxman promises to act quickly, drafting regulations for a bureaucratic cap-and-trade proposal to limit GHG emissions.
Dingell also promised action on global warming, but the proposal he introduced last year to limit carbon emissions was unacceptable to the majority of his Democratic colleagues. That’s because the plan he unveiled was a straight tax on carbon emissions, making very clear that efforts to limit carbon entail economic costs. A cap-and-trade system is every bit a tax as a straight levy, and will cost the economy. But its bureaucratic complexity obscures those inconvenient truths, making cap-and-trade a much more palatable option for politicians who have to answer to voters.
Dingell deserves kudos for saying that if we take extreme measures on global warming to address a supposedly urgent problem, we should do so with our eyes wide open about what they will cost. Instead of congratulations, his reward for such brutal candor was defenestration.” “The Gore-ing of the bull“
